  • The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Hameau de Blagny” 2023 by Thomas-Collardot is a precise, saline Chardonnay from Burgundy – crafted artisanally on a 2.5-hectare family estate renowned for transparent white wines without any make-up.
  • 🎨 Colour: Pale, clear straw yellow with greenish reflections.
  • 👃 Aroma: Precise citrus fruit, white flowers and a fine chalky minerality, underpinned by delicate citrus zest.
  • 👅 Taste: Taut and dry on the palate, with a fine grain, vibrant acidity and a distinctly saline, long finish – entirely without buttered toast or vanilla.
  • 🎭 Character: Quiet, focused and precise: a Puligny Chardonnay that seeks transparency rather than opulence and impresses with controlled finesse.
  • 🍽️ Food recommendation: Noble fish such as sole or pike-perch, delicate poultry dishes in a light jus and aged Comté.
  • ✨ Special features: From the Premier Cru vineyard site Hameau de Blagny; aged in used 228-litre casks with sixteen months on the fine lees, only lightly filtered and without fining – the estate has been organically certified since 2021.

Wine description for Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Hameau de Blagny” AOC 2023 by Thomas-Collardot

Character
A Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru of the understated school: salty, taut, precise. Chardonnay without make-up – fine citrus fruit, a cool chalky texture, a dry, linear drive with no buttered toast or clouds of vanilla. Transparency instead of opulence, grain instead of breadth.
Terroir & Origin
The Hameau de Blagny vineyard site is one of the Premier Crus of Puligny-Montrachet, the most famous white wine village on the Côte de Beaune. The Domaine Thomas-Collardot cultivates just 2.5 hectares – a family estate whose vines trace back to Jacqueline Collardot’s grandfathers Henri Chavy and Maurice Thomas. They have been vinifying their own wines since 2015, and her son Matthieu joined in 2018; the estate is organic-certified. Annual production of around 10,000 bottles – craftsmanship rather than spectacle.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay, crafted with a gentle hand: soft pressing, 24 hours of settling, ageing in used 228-litre pièces so that the wood only whispers. The Premier Cru wines rest 16 months on the fine lees, are only lightly filtered and not fined at all; sulphur additions are largely dispensed with. The result: fine grain, razor-sharp freshness, a chalky-saline finish.
Food Pairings
A wine that enlivens the table rather than dominating it. Ideal pairings: pike-perch in beurre blanc, grilled sole, crustaceans such as lobster or langoustines, alongside veal sweetbreads or braised fennel. Also a triumph with aged Comté. Young and taut now – those who can muster three to five years of patience will be rewarded with additional depth.
