Wine description for Les Ports Complantation zero dosage 2022 by Jérôme Blin
- Colour & Appearance
- Delicate rosé shimmer characterises this Champagne in the glass, with a fine and persistent perlage – a visual testament to Jérôme Blin’s artisanal precision.
- Nose
- The nose reveals a fascinating complexity: initially smoke and liquorice, then lemon zest and russet apples, accompanied by green stone fruit and crisp red berries. The barrique ageing manifests itself in notes of toasted bread crust, brioche and almond cream. With air contact, mineralic facets of crushed limestone and graphite develop – an aromatic kaleidoscope.
- Palate
- On the palate, this zero dosage presents itself as fresh, energetic and pleasingly restrained in its fruit expression. Peaches, apricots, yellow plums, greengages and lemon are accented by a hint of pomegranate. The crisp acidity and vibrant perlage are perfectly integrated, lending the Champagne remarkable power and tension.
- Finish
- Pure, tonic and energetic – the finish underscores the uncompromising character of this Champagne, mineral and of sustained freshness.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes come from a historic complantation in Vincelles, planted in the 1970s – a mixed planting as rarely found in Champagne. This ancient planting tradition lends the wine its distinctive depth and complexity.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- The cuvée comprises 90% Meunier, complemented by Petit Meslier, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. The base wine aged in barrique, bottle fermentation took place in March 2023, disgorged in April 2024 – without dosage. Limited to 2,925 bottles.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- This pure Champagne pairs beautifully with raw fish, sashimi or oysters. Also an excellent choice with pan-fried white fish, scallops or poultry with lemon. The mineralic freshness makes it an ideal aperitif.
- Special Features
- An authentic Champagne that embodies the renaissance of mixed plantings in Champagne – radically pure, artisanally uncompromising and of fascinating individuality.
