Serrat de la Plane means "stony plateau" in Catalan. The old vineyard with its ancient Grenache vines was once supposed to be cleared, but luckily Meissner was able to take it over. The vines stand in the well-aerated site on gneiss weathered soils and produce only minimal yields of just under 10hl/ha.
Color
Dark purple with violet reflections and black core.
Nose
The 2020 Serrat de la Plane by Georg Meissner from 100% Grenache smells of dark berry fruits such as blackberries and mulberries and some plum jam. In addition, there are dark aromas of undergrowth, garrique and black olives, which give it its distinctive Mediterranean twist.
Mouth
On the nose, the Serrat de la Plane is super juicy with deep dark fruit of Amarena cherry and red berries. On the palate, it is pleasantly transparent and clear with almost silky tannins. Aromatically, one finds oneself crystal clear in Languedoc-Roussillon, which is underlined by the herbal-spicy aromas. Underneath, a subtle bass of the weathered soils booms, giving it additional pace and sublime drinkability.
