The Clos Venturi winery is located in the small village of Ponte-Leccia in the municipality of Morosaglia, about 50 kilometres southwest of the capital Bastia. The wines of François Aquaviva, Jean-Marc and Manu Venturi uniquely combine continental freshness with Mediterranean ripeness, made possible by the exceptional altitude of the vineyards on sandstone, basalt, granite and blue slate. The 2019 Chiesa Nera Rouge is a cuvée of Aléaticu, Sciaccarellu, Minustellu, Carcaghjolu Neru and Moresconu, as well as Niellucciu and Vermentinu.

Color

Dark ruby red with a transparent core.

Nose

The 2019 Chiesa Nera Rouge from Clos Venturi exudes a potpourri of aromas Dark fruits such as blackberries, mulberries and black cherries mingle with elderberries and raspberries. On top, floral top notes of violets, lavender and hollyhocks float, underpinned by earthy notes as well as spicy hints of tobacco, leather and smoked bacon. Multi-layered and complex, it makes the lips turn to the glass in anticipation.

Mouth

Despite its extract, concentration, density and complexity, it is transparent on the palate with silky tannin, sensational freshness and liveliness. Almost light-footed, it plays around the papillae and radiates with extract-sweet fruit, laced into the fine-grained tannin corset and contoured by the fine, ripe acidity. Defined like Nureyev, structurally everything is in the right place in this wine, which is already a great pleasure when drunk young. Those who give it the necessary time to mature and thus to achieve true greatness will certainly be rewarded. Premier league!
