Aleatico

The red grape variety Aleatico is a fascinating phenomenon of the Tyrrhenian region, captivating above all with its intense, almost ethereal aromatics. Closely related to the Muscat family, it brings a beguiling fragrance to the glass, reminiscent of fresh rose petals, lavender and ripe dark berries. On the barren soils of Corsica, in interplay with the Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu varieties, it reveals a profound, spicy facet. At Clos Venturi, this results in a multi-layered cuvée with silky tannins and fine notes of tobacco and leather. Quite different, light-hearted and full of drinking flow, the grape presents itself in the hills of Tuscany. The Calafata winery blends it with Ciliegiolo to create a pale, juicy wine that, with aromas of raspberries and sour cherries at just eleven percent alcohol, radiates pure joy of living.
