Wine Description for Chablis Terroirs de Béru AOC 2022 1500ml Magnum from Château de Béru
- Colour & Appearance
- Medium golden yellow with subtle green reflections – a classic appearance for a young Chablis that promises freshness and elegance.
- Nose
- Here the full complexity of the Kimmeridge terroir reveals itself: fine-grained and mineral in equal measure. Apple and pear meet ripe apricot, underpinned by delicate roasted almond notes. The characteristic notes of oyster shells and a saline sea breeze lend the wine that maritime freshness which distinguishes great Chablis.
- Palate
- Elegant and refreshing, this 2022 presents itself on the palate. The fine fruit is carried by a vibrant acidity that never dominates but is perfectly integrated. Remarkable is the juicy texture in conjunction with that saline minerality, which makes the wine tremendously appetising. The extended ageing on fine lees imparts substance without heaviness.
- Finish
- Persistent and precise, with a cool, mineral aftertaste reminiscent of damp stones and oyster shells. The acidity remains present and leaves a refreshing, appetite-stimulating impression.
- Terroir & Origin
- This cuvée is an authentic expression of the northerly parcels of Château de Béru. The Kimmeridge limestone – that primordial stone full of fossilised oyster shells – fundamentally shapes the character and lends the wine its distinctive mineral signature.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Pure Chardonnay, vinified in a combination of vats and barrels. The extended ageing on fine lees (sur lie) gives the wine texture and depth without obscuring the crystalline purity of the terroir. At 13% alcohol, the 2022 vintage shows excellent balance.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- The ideal companion to seafood and oysters, but also to sole fillets with chervil-Chablis sauce, scallops or a chanterelle risotto with green asparagus. The magnum bottle makes it the perfect accompaniment for festive occasions.
- Special Features
- The magnum bottle (1500ml) is not only impressive but also allows for slower, more harmonious maturation of the wine. An authentic Chablis at a fair price-to-quality ratio.
