  • The Mâcon-Péronne Ars Vinea blanc AOC 2024 from Domaine Thomas-Collardot is a dry, taut Chardonnay from southern Burgundy – saline, precise and bottled in generous magnum format.
  • 🎨 Colour: Bright, clear straw yellow with a fine sheen.
  • 👃 Aroma: Citrus zest and green apple, accompanied by white flowers and a chalky-mineral undertone.
  • 👅 Taste: Lean and linear with juicy citrus fruit, vibrant acidity and a saline, dry finish.
  • 🎭 Character: Burgundy without make-up: transparent and cool rather than opulent, with a fine grain and razor-sharp freshness.
  • 🍽️ Food recommendation: With oysters and fruits of the sea, grilled goat’s cheese or poached sea fish with herbs.
  • ✨ Special features: Rare 1500ml magnum – here, Chardonnay from great vineyard sites bears the signature of a small family estate from Puligny-Montrachet whose style stands for saline tension and clear lines.

Wine description for Mâcon-Péronne Ars Vinea blanc AOC 2024 1500ml Magnum by Thomas-Collardot

Character
An unadorned Chardonnay from southern Burgundy: dry, linear and of cool clarity. Those who know Domaine Thomas-Collardot will expect precisely this – salty tension, precise citrus fruit and a fine, chalky texture rather than buttered toast and clouds of vanilla. The magnum bottle further underlines the character: in large format, white wines mature more slowly and retain their freshness noticeably longer.
Terroir & Origin
Péronne lies in the Mâconnais, the southernmost part of Burgundy, where Chardonnay has long been at home on calcareous soils. The appellation Mâcon-Péronne stands for village vineyard sites with their own identity – straightforward, honest white wines far removed from the grand stages of the Côte d’Or. The fact that an estate from Puligny-Montrachet vinifies here brings two worlds together: the cool rigour of the Côte de Beaune with the slightly warmer, more open fruit of the Mâconnais.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay – the variety that has become a language of its own at the Collardot estate. Jacqueline Collardot and her son Matthieu work at their small family estate, organically certified since 2021, according to the principle of the gentle hand: soft pressing, ageing in used wooden casks, only light filtration, no fining. The result is wines with a fine grain and a dry, salty pull – craftsmanship instead of spectacle.
Food Pairings
The taut, mineral nature of this Mâcon-Péronne calls for clear aromas at the table: zander fillet with lemon butter, scallops on a bed of leeks or a simple chicken with tarragon. With young goat’s cheeses from the region – such as a Mâconnais AOP – the wine shows just how well salty freshness and creamy texture complement one another. The magnum format makes it the wine for a long evening with several courses and good company.
