Wine information

»he art of patience! - Accuracy and precision". This is how Jean-Louis Trapet titled the 2014 vintage. The vintage started excellently with lots of light and sun in a summery spring. The flowering sprouted three weeks earlier than in 2013. In June, the days were hot and the next partly freezing cold, which led to a strong trickling. This was compounded by almost daily torrential rainfall in later June and July. The weather continued until August, so that the Veraison ...was slow in coming. Finally, it became a Burgundian late summer after all. »The constitution surprises and today The color is crystal clear, the aromas are fine and tasty, the acidity is balanced, the structure is silky and precise. You can see there the advantage of slow vintages ... In 2014, around 50 % whole clusters were in fermentation. The wine comes from two plots with a total of two hectares.

Color

Quite bright and transparent cherry red

Nose

The 2014 Chambertin Grand Cru shows itself from an elegant as well as floral and fresh side. Here, notes of peony, lavender and violet dominate from the beginning, which are accompanied by red and a few dark berries as well as some cherries. In the background, notes of herbal tea, earth and crushed stone show up.

Palate

On the palate the 2014 Grand Cru with a trinity of tension, finest spice and clarity. The Chambertin is immensely juicy and fans out into bright notes of red berries and cherries, underpinned by the finest spice, reminiscent of light tobacco, earth and undergrowth. Despite its clarity and transparency, it did not lack power in the slightest. The bubbles in the underground and is fed by intense minerality. There is an impressive balance here, even at a young age, brought about by an acidic arc that acts like the tightened string of a Japanese longbow. This is deeply impressive.
