Wine information
The Frauenberg is located in the southern Wonnegau north of Hohen-Sülzen in the direction of Flörsheim at an altitude of up to 280 metres with a slope of up to 40 %. The vineyard was first mentioned in 1290 as »an frauwenhalten« and was then owned by a nunnery. It lies 250 metres above sea level and is characterised by limestone gravel on pure limestone rock. The vines of this exposed site must be able to cope with both heat and cool winds. To get at the minerals, the vines have to root very deeply. The grapes from the Frauenberg were hand-picked, strictly selected, spontaneously fermented and matured in single and double barrels.

medium straw yellow
Nose
The 2022 grlarge plants from the Frauenberg in Nieder-Flörsheim offers plenty of charm and creaminess on the nose in combination with a subtle smoky note. With air, the wine becomes spicier and darker. There is hardly any fruit to speak of here. There is some lemon, lemon balm and lemongrass. But expression has never been the essence of Frauenberg. It is always finesse.
Palate
This delicacy, the pure and subtle, even enigmatic, also characterises the palate. The Frauenberg Riesling is charming with a subtle extract sweetness in a yellow and white-fleshed fruit. The rocky spice is also present here, but not quite as prominent. But there is already an impressive balance of fruit, spice, savoury herbal notes and a grippy extract and phenol that will carry the wine for decades, even if it is still young and developing. And in both the extract and the tannin, which the wine possesses, one finds the finesse again, as in a cut and polished semi-precious stone.
