Wine Description for Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2021 by Chiara Boschis – E.Pira & Figli

Colour & Appearance
Luminous garnet red with medium transparency – that classic Nebbiolo elegance that already promises finesse in the glass.
Nose
A fascinating duality of power and refinement: iron and blood meet ripe plums and cherries, underpinned by cherry stones and fine marzipan. These are joined by red berries, fresh mint, a hint of eucalyptus and candied lavender – an aromatic kaleidoscope that impressively reflects the complexity of the Cannubi terroir.
Palate
Here the true greatness of this wine reveals itself: balanced and elegant, with warm, ripe fruit and floral notes. The tannin presents itself as impeccably silky, the acidity clear and invigorating. Mineralic iron notes appear again, along with blue fruits, subtle oak and earthy nuances. The wine flows like a calm, powerful stream – full of sensual depth and remarkable harmony.
Finish
Long, persistent and characterised by a noble aftertaste that underscores the characteristic Cannubi elegance.
Terroir & Origin
Cannubi is considered one of the most famous vineyards of Barolo. The perfect south-facing aspect and the distinctive soil composition with a notable sand content give the Nebbiolo grapes extraordinary intensity and lead to that characteristic harmony that distinguishes this wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Nebbiolo in the Michet and Lampia clones, harvested in early October 2021. Fermentation in rotary tanks with 14 days of skin contact, malolactic fermentation in steel. Two years of ageing in French oak barrels and barriques – classical, yet with modern precision.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A wine for Brasato al Barolo, Ossobuco, truffle risotto or aged Parmigiano Reggiano. Also an excellent choice with game dishes such as venison loin or braised venison.
Special Features
Chiara Boschis‘ 2021 Cannubi is a great vintage that impressively demonstrates the extraordinary quality of this legendary vineyard – a Barolo of classical structure and modern elegance.
