Wine information
More than almost any other Spanish bodega, Artadi stands for the change from wines characterised by the cellar to wines characterised by the terroir. Since the 1990s, the winery in the Basque region of Rioja has focussed on expressing the character of specific vineyards in its wines. The certified organic red wine "Valdegines" comes from a four-hectare east-facing vineyard at an altitude of around 600 metres in the municipality of Laguardia. The 35-year-old Tempranillo vines grow on loamy and highly calcareous soils. As with all Artadi wines, the grapes are destemmed and fermented spontaneously. The wine is matured in oak barrels of different sizes and ages.

Cherry Red
Nose
The bouquet of Valdegines 2021 is open and expressive as soon as the bottle is uncorked. The captivating nose is fresh, clear and stimulating. It shows cool red and blue fruit of cherries and plums, some pepper and minerality.
Palate
The lively and invigorating impression of this red wine continues seamlessly on the palate. The Valdegines is remarkably juicy, fresh and full of tension. It has a slim to medium body, elegant tannins and a velvety texture. The expressive aroma is characterised by ripe and equally fresh red fruit. The long finish is also great, with the fine-grained tannins lingering in the mouth for a long time. All in all, the Valdegines offers a brilliant drinking flow and is characterised by impressive finesse and precision.
