Tinta Amarela

Also known as: Trincadeira (Alentejo), Tinta Amarela (Douro)
Tinta Amarela is one of the classic Douro grape varieties, contributing aroma and acidity to Port wine blends. What distinguishes it from many other Portuguese varieties: it brings floral notes and a refined, almost spicy expression, without becoming heavy. In the Douro, it is valued for providing freshness where others deliver structure. Late-ripening, it reacts sensitively to drought – but that is precisely what makes it interesting for sites that still retain sufficient moisture.
At Quinta de Nápoles – Niepoort, the variety shows what it can do: precise, aromatic, without extraction.
