Info

An imposing vineyard - an imposing wine. The ancient vines of this ancient terrace site regularly produce a wine of intense minerality, elegance and depth, which only really shows what it is made of after a few years of bottle ageing. The light grey slate here is interspersed with layers containing iron and is even less weathered than in the adjacent areas. Time and again, rockfalls from the terraces above haunt this site. However, the risk for humans and plants is gladly accepted with such results in the bottle.

Nose

The nose can now be attributed to a clear and distinguished signature of Clemens Busch. Its fruit is serious and grown-up. At the same time, it seems very shy and pleasantly unpretentious. It is much more radiant and bursting with energy and vitality. Mirabelle, quince and apricot alternate between yellow and orange. Grapefruit and a little orange peel can also be detected. But Clemens Busch and his team create so much more than fruit. Native and wild herbs sprout from every corner. It has a warming effect and yet shows the finesse of a cool, classic year like 2021. But above all, it proudly and sublimely displays its tea-like character, which fluctuates between nettle extract and sencha. Earthy, dark and deep, yet at the same time ethereally refreshing.

Palate

On the palate, it proves all this and so much more. It is bundled and compact. The fruit is loud and full of intensity. 2021 Felsterrasse is an incredibly close-knit Riesling. Every fibre shows its full strength. A fine phenolic structure forms its backbone. The fruit seems distinctly greener and fresher. The herbal and earthy aromas clearly determine the taste picture. In the aftertaste, vegetal nuances also appear, strongly reminiscent of artichoke and pea.
