  • The Pinot Noir AC 2024 from Domaine Albert Mann is a dry Alsatian red wine with Burgundian finesse and a silky texture. Produced biodynamically across 25 hectares in Wettolsheim, this Pinot Noir bears the hallmark of an estate ranked among the finest producers in Alsace.
  • 🎨 Colour: Light to medium ruby red with cherry-red reflections, typical of a fine, gently extracted Pinot Noir.
  • 👃 Nose: Red cherry and raspberry, accompanied by floral notes of violet, a hint of undergrowth and delicate spice.
  • 👅 Palate: Sleek and precise on the palate, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a fresh, fruit-driven finish. Nothing heavy; everything is clearly defined.
  • 🎭 Character: An Alsatian Pinot Noir that dispels preconceptions: elegant rather than weighty, finely structured rather than rustic. The Barthelmé family tend their Pinot Noir plots as if they were Burgundian vineyards, and it shows in the glass.
  • 🍽️ Food pairing: An ideal companion to duck breast with cherries, mushroom ragout on polenta or a mild hard cheese such as Comté.
  • ✨ Special features: Domaine Albert Mann has been farming biodynamically since 1997 and is Demeter-certified. Hand-harvesting and open-vat fermentation lend this Pinot Noir a precision that sets it clearly apart from the majority of Alsatian red wines.

Wine description for Pinot Noir AC 2024 by Domaine Albert Mann

Character
A finesse-driven Alsatian Pinot Noir that combines the cool elegance of its origin with the silky texture for which Maurice and Jacky Barthelmé are renowned. The wine presents itself dry and with a moderate 12.5% ABV – a style that favours precision over opulence.
Terroir & Origin
Domaine Albert Mann in Wettolsheim has been farmed biodynamically (Demeter-certified) since 1997, covering 25 hectares spread across nearly one hundred parcels in six Grand Cru vineyard sites. The soils of Alsace – from granite to limestone – shape wines of mineral precision. On the steepest slopes, the Barthelmés work with horses rather than tractors to protect the soils.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Noir is a rarity in Alsace, yet the Barthelmés tend their vines with Burgundian care: hand-harvesting, open-top fermentation, and maturation in small wooden casks. The result is red wines with fine tannins and a freshness that reflects the region’s cool climate.
Food Pairings
The refined structure and vibrant acidity make this wine an ideal companion for pan-roasted duck breast, herb-crusted rack of lamb, or wild game birds. It also reveals its strengths alongside mature Comté or mushroom dishes.
