Wine Description for Pannobile 2016 1500ml Magnum by Heinrich

Colour & Appearance
Deep purple with ruby-red rim and opaque core – a wine that promises substance and depth from the very first glance. It presents itself in the glass with clarity and lustre.
Nose
This Pannobile demands patience. Initially reserved, the cuvée of 55% Zweigelt and 45% Blaufränkisch gradually unfolds its full potential with air. Not an opulent fruit bomb, but precisely defined black cherry and dark berries, reminiscent of Black Forest gateau – complex, multifaceted, underpinned by floral notes. The aromatic diversity of the 2016 vintage opens up gradually like a hot air balloon.
Palate
Here the wine reveals its true character: crisp, layered fruit, carried by a fine-grained, silky tannin structure. The structure recalls an elegant wrap dress – light, yet precisely cut. A vibrant acidity and a delicate, stimulating bitterness lend the wine tension and backbone. Despite its softness, it remains straightforward, honest, balanced. With only 12.5% alcohol, it never feels heavy, but rather feather-light and eminently drinkable.
Finish
Tense and impressively long. The fruit resonates, accompanied by fine spice and silky tannins.
Terroir & Origin
From Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, where Gernot and Heike Heinrich are among the pioneers of natural winemaking. The Pannonian climate with its hot days and cool nights shapes the freshness and concentration of this wine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
A classic Burgenland blend of Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, uniting the best of both varieties: the fruit and accessibility of Zweigelt, the structure and spice of Blaufränkisch. Biodynamically farmed, crafted with respect for grape and terroir.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Braised pork belly, roasted chicken stuffed with chestnuts, Mediterranean grilled vegetable quiche with Gorgonzola or red cabbage salad harmonise beautifully with the fruit-acidity balance of this wine.
Special Features
The magnum bottle guarantees slower, more harmonious maturation. Already a pleasure to drink now, but with potential until at least 2025. A Pannobile that stands for pure joy – honest, unpretentious, delicious.
