Wine Description for Pannobile Red 2016 1500ml Magnum by Nittnaus Anita & Hans

Colour & Appearance
Dense, almost impenetrable garnet red with violet-black reflections right to the rim of the glass – a visual promise of concentration and power.
Nose
Captivating, dense and youthfully powerful. Dark morello cherries and blackberries meet plum paste, underpinned by fireplace wood and Mediterranean herbs. These are joined by liquorice and a subtle note of green pepper – typical of Blaufränkisch. An inviting, multi-layered aromatics that immediately whets the appetite for the first sip.
Palate
Juicy, fresh, precise. Cherry fruit dominates with youthful energy, carried by invigorating acidity and refined tannins that provide structure without harshness. A stony minerality lends the substantial wine grip and finesse – here Burgundian elegance unites with Pannonian fruit abundance.
Finish
Invigorating and long, with lingering fruit and mineral character. A wine that invites you to take the next sip – pure drinking pleasure.
Terroir & Origin
The hand-selected biodynamic grapes come from premium hillside sites on the northern edge of Lake Neusiedl: Zweigelt from Leithaberg in Jois, Blaufränkisch from Golser Ungerberg. Calcareous soils and the Pannonian climate shape this extraordinary cuvée.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Cuvée of Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. Hand-selected biodynamic grapes, spontaneous fermentation in wood, followed by 20 months of maturation on the lees in 500-litre wooden barrels. Purist vinification that gives precedence to terroir and fruit.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Excellent with beef fillet with creamed spinach and pine nuts, savoury filo pastry tart with minced meat and aubergines or vegetarian with pan-fried polenta slices with mushroom ragout. The structure handles bold flavours well, the freshness also harmonises beautifully with Mediterranean herbs.
Special Features
Part of the Pannobile Collection, an association of top Burgenland winemakers. The magnum bottle promises additional ageing potential. A „dense-fruited, youthfully elegant gentleman“ – absolutely spot-on right now, but with development potential for years to come.
