Wine description for naked red non-vintage by Heinrich

Character
The „Naked Red“ by Heinrich is a deliberately restrained, honest red wine – the name says it all. No vintage, no constraints: this wine puts the essence of Blaufränkisch from Lake Neusiedl front and centre, eschewing any oenological embellishment. With a moderate alcohol content of 12.0% vol. and a dry character, it demonstrates that depth and approachability need not be contradictory.
Terroir & Origin
The Burgenland – and particularly the flat, wind-swept shores of Lake Neusiedl – imprint this wine unmistakably. The Pannonian climate with its hot summers, long autumns and the tempering influence of the shallow steppe lake creates ideal conditions for fully ripe yet fresh red wines. The soils alternate between loamy gravel terraces and mineralic schist layers – a diversity that is reflected in the character of the blend.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The cuvée unites the three great red varieties of Burgenland: Blaufränkisch brings structure, spicy depth and the region’s characteristic dark berry fruit; Zweigelt contributes juiciness and approachability; Sankt Laurent – the elegant, often underestimated variety – lends the blend a velvety, almost Burgundian finesse. The title „Naked“ points to a natural, low-intervention winemaking approach that places fruit and terroir at the forefront rather than concealing them behind oak or technique. Gert Heinrich, one of the defining winemakers of Lake Neusiedl, stands for precisely this kind of artisanal integrity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A versatile table companion: excellent with grilled lamb rack, Wiener Tafelspitz or smoked beef brisket. The wine also reveals its uncomplicated, inviting side alongside spiced lentil dishes, mushroom risotto or a rustic charcuterie board. Served slightly chilled – at around 16–17 °C – it shows its freshest, most vibrant facet.
