Wine Description for Meursault En Luraule AOC 2023 1500ml Magnum by Rémi Jobard

Colour & Appearance
Luminous golden yellow with greenish reflections that emphasise the youthfulness of this 2023. Particularly brilliant and clear in magnum format.
Nose
Seductive and precise in equal measure: white flowers, citrus fruits and green apple to the fore, followed by subtle notes of hazelnut and wet stones. The restrained oak barrel note allows the terroir to take centre stage – exactly as Rémi Jobard intends.
Palate
Slender and mineral-driven, without sacrificing substance. The texture is creamy, yet never heavy, with a vibrant acidity that carries the wine. Aromas of white peach, pear and a saline minerality that is typical of Meursault. The moderate oak integrates perfectly and gives the wine structure without dominating it.
Finish
Long, fresh and characterised by fine salinity. The minerality lingers and leaves an elegant, dry impression that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
En Luraule is a Village-level vineyard site in Meursault, renowned for its stony soils. These impart the wine’s characteristic minerality and tension – less opulent than the Premier Crus, but more linear and precise.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Chardonnay, consistently aged in oak barrels, with only one fifth in new barrels. Jobard increasingly favours larger 600-litre Stockinger barrels, which keep the wine slender and mineral-driven. Two winters‘ maturation in barrel, no filtration – the result is a wine of natural stability and impressive complexity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with pan-seared scallops, lobster in butter sauce, poultry in cream sauce or a mature Comté. Also an excellent choice with turbot or sweetbreads.
Special Features
The magnum format guarantees slower, more harmonious development. The Jobard family has been cultivating vineyards in Meursault since the 16th century – tradition and modernity united in a single bottle.
