Wine Description for Meursault 1er Cru Le Poruzot-Dessus Élevage Prolongé AOC 2022 1500ml Magnum by Rémi Jobard

Character
Rémi Jobard, who has run the family estate since 2008, makes a statement with this Meursault Premier Cru for patience and precision. The designation „Élevage Prolongé“ – extended ageing – already reveals the philosophy: this wine receives more time in barrel to develop complexity and depth. The magnum bottle reinforces this approach further, as the wine matures more harmoniously and slowly in this format. Le Poruzot-Dessus sits on the upper slope above Meursault, a cooler vineyard site that favours freshness and minerality.
Terroir & Origin
The Premier Cru vineyard site Le Poruzot-Dessus is located south of Meursault on the border with Volnay and belongs to the stoniest, higher-altitude parcels of the appellation. The calcareous soils with high limestone content give these wines that tense minerality which distinguishes Meursault from its more opulent neighbours. The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was marked by heat and drought, which produced concentrated wines, yet thanks to cool nights also fresh wines.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Chardonnay shows its nutty, buttery side in Meursault without losing elegance. Rémi Jobard works traditionally: spontaneous fermentation, ageing in oak barrels with moderate new wood content, extended lees contact. The prolonged élevage likely means 14 to 18 months in barrel rather than the usual 12, which gives the wine more texture, creaminess and aromatic integration. The magnum amplifies this effect through the more favourable ratio of wine to oxygen.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This Meursault calls for lobster with butter, scallops in cream sauce or a Bresse chicken with morels. Aged hard cheeses such as Comté or Beaufort also harmonise perfectly with the nutty complexity. The minerality also complements grilled turbot or risotto with white truffle.
