Wine Description for Mâcon Blanc AOC 2024 by Bret Brothers

Colour & Appearance
Pale golden yellow with delicate green reflections – a Chardonnay that displays its youthfulness in the glass.
Nose
Precise and invigorating: apple, apricot and lemon zest dominate, underpinned by fine oak notes and a herbal freshness with a slightly bitter edge. The mineral tension is already distinctly perceptible at this youthful stage – a wine with nervosity and vibrancy.
Palate
Freshness is the creed: A lively acidity carries apple and citrus notes, whilst a creamy, juicy mouthfeel provides balance. This Chardonnay delivers fullness without heaviness – a Burgundian virtue that finds perfect expression here.
Finish
Clean, mineral and persistent with a refreshing citrus note that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
A Chardonnay from Chardonnay – yes, from the eponymous village in the Mâconnais. The terroir of clay on limestone in east and south-east facing slopes delivers precisely that mineral precision which distinguishes this wine. The name „Chardonnay“ derives from the Latin „Cardus“ (thistle), which thrives particularly well on the limestone soils of the region.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Chardonnay, carefully crafted with subtle oak support that structures the fruit rather than masking it. The Bret Brothers understand how to combine Burgundian elegance with southern fruitiness. Only 2,466 bottles were produced.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Perfect with grilled sea bass, scallops with lemon butter, goat’s cheese or chicken fricassée with tarragon. Also an excellent choice with asparagus and hollandaise sauce.
Special Features
An authentic Mâcon with Burgundian DNA at a fair price. The limited production run of under 2,500 bottles underscores the artisanal approach of the Bret Brothers. A wine that brings pleasure now, but certainly possesses two to three years of ageing potential.
