Wine Description for Ladoix Buisson AOC 2023 by AS Sirugue-Noëllat

Character
An authentic Burgundy from Ladoix-Serrigny, the northernmost appellation of the Côte de Beaune. The Sirugue-Noëllat estate, traditionally rooted in Vosne-Romanée, brings its expertise in elegant, terroir-driven Pinot Noir to bear here. The Ladoix Buisson embodies that unpretentious quality that makes Burgundy beyond the Grands Crus so appealing – honest, accessible and with clear character of origin.
Terroir & Origin
Ladoix-Serrigny lies at the transition between Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, geologically characterised by calcareous soils with pebbles and marl. The vineyard site benefits from proximity to the renowned Corton hill without commanding its prices. The cooler microclimate of this northern position lends the wines a characteristic freshness and minerality. The 2023 vintage brought a warm, dry summer following a challenging spring, which produced healthy, concentrated grapes with good acidity structure.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Noir shows a somewhat rustier, earthier side in Ladoix than in the more prestigious neighbouring villages. The wines tend towards red fruit aromas with spicy notes and a certain structure. At 13.5% alcohol, this wine sits within the classic Burgundian framework – neither too opulent nor too light. The Sirugue family likely employs traditional vinification here: gentle extraction, ageing in barrels with moderate new oak, to preserve fruit clarity and terroir expression.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A versatile companion for classic French cuisine: Coq au Vin, Boeuf Bourguignon or Duck breast with mushrooms. Also an excellent choice with aged Comté, Époisses or goat’s cheese. The moderate structure harmonises equally well with salmon fillet, tuna tataki or mushroom risotto.
