Info
The vines stand high on the northern slope of Mont Ventoux and in the Massif Dentelles de Montmirail at an altitude of around 350 metres. Grenache Noir, Carignan and Cinsault are combined here. The yields are low at 20hl/ha. The grapes are completely destemmed. The wine is matured in concrete in enamelled barrels and used barriques. The fruit and its expression are in the foreground.
Color
Dark cherry red with delicate violet reflections
Nose
The nose is wonderfully playful, dark and spicy. Morello cherry, plum and even a hint of sloe are at the forefront. Elderberry, mulberry and blackberry push from behind. It shows nuances of hibiscus and pansy, which add elegance to this dark fruit. Juniper, black pepper, cardamom and cinnamon are the spicy representatives. Black olive, rosemary and thyme add strong Mediterranean flavours.
Palate
It runs over the palate like an elderberry juice. Plenty of fruit in generous portions, rich in extract and intense. A fine tannin structure lines the palate and gives the wine plenty of support. Fortunately, the acidity revitalises wines from these sites. This means that the fruit is always pushed back. Overall, it is elegant and restrained. It can hardly compete with the tannins, acidity and extract. A very successful interpretation of an elegant, easy-drinking wine of this style and origin.
