Wine description for Vacqueyras rouge „Les Vignes du Parc“ AOC 2023 by d’Ouréa

Colour & Appearance
Medium, transparent ruby red – a colour that already announces the elegance and finesse of this Vacqueyras. The clarity in the glass bears witness to precise cellar work.
Nose
Here Adrien Roustan’s signature reveals itself: a fascinating bouquet of rosehip paste and tomato paste meets wild strawberries, raspberries and violet flowers. This unusual aromatics is the result of whole-bunch fermentation – the ripe stems and stalks lend the wine a characteristic, almost spicy depth that sets it apart from conventional southern Rhône wines.
Palate
On the palate, an even more delicate aromatics unfolds than on the nose. An elegant rose note merges with liquorice hints. The texture is remarkable: silky and smooth, carried by a deep minerality that owes to the Grenache vines over 70 years old. Despite its undeniable power, the wine seems almost slender – a balancing act achieved through the lively acidity and the additional freshness of the stems. This tension between concentration and lightness makes the wine extraordinary.
Finish
Persistently fresh with fine minerality and subtle herbal notes stemming from the stems. The aftertaste is elegant and invigorating.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from Adrien Roustan’s finest parcels in Vacqueyras: the Hautes Garrigues with red clay-limestone, which bring finesse and minerality, as well as the Pendants with blue-yellow marl, which provide power and depth. The vineyard planted in 1950 embodies the essence of old vines.
Grape Variety & Vinification
65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% each Cinsault, Carignan and Mourvèdre. The uncrushed but destemmed grapes were fermented quickly and aged in concrete – a vinification that puts purity and precision front and centre.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Pairs excellently with grilled lamb rack with Provençal herbs, ratatouille, duck breast with cherries or a mature Comté.
Special Features
A prime example of modern, terroir-focused Rhône wines: powerful, yet never heavy, with a freshness and elegance that perfectly captures the 2023 vintage.
