Tasting Notes for La Contessa DOC 2025 by Manincor
- Character
- A stylish, fresh white wine from South Tyrol that combines alpine clarity with an elegant texture. With a moderate alcohol content of 12.5% ABV, it presents itself dry, delicate and with a refreshing structure that reflects the estate’s natural approach.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes originate from the vineyard sites around Caldaro. At the Manincor estate, Count Michael Goëss-Enzenberg, together with estate director Helmuth Zozin, strictly adheres to Demeter-certified, biodynamic principles. The microclimate around Lake Caldaro benefits from the cool mountain air surrounding the hillside cellar, where gravity-flow methods are used entirely without pumping.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- This assemblage combines Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Whilst the Pinot Blanc provides a fine foundation, the Chardonnay contributes substance, complemented by the delicate aromatics of the Sauvignon Blanc. The cellar philosophy is one of minimal intervention: fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts to bring the unadulterated terroir of the 50-hectare vineyards straight into the bottle.
- Food Pairings
- This versatile white wine pairs brilliantly with pan-fried Arctic char, South Tyrolean Schlutzkrapfen (stuffed pasta) with nut-brown butter, or a creamy herb risotto. It also displays its finest qualities alongside delicate poultry or mild fresh cheese.
