Wine Description for Gevrey-Chambertin „Petite-Chapelle“ 1er Cru 2015 by Trapet Père & Fils

Character
A wine that embodies the quiet grandeur of Burgundy: complex, grounded and of aristocratic restraint. The 2015 vintage – warm, sun-blessed and of extraordinary ripeness – lends this Premier Cru a rare fullness, whilst maintaining the structural rigour so typical of Gevrey-Chambertin. A wine for the patient, one that demands time and rewards it in equal measure.
Terroir & Origin
The vineyard site „Petite-Chapelle“ lies in the southern part of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation, immediately below the Grand Cru Chapelle-Chambertin. The soils are characterised by shallow limestone and clay-rich subsoil – a terroir that gives Pinot Noir grip and depth. The warm, dry 2015 vintage produced wines in the Côte de Nuits of extraordinary concentration and ageing potential, without compromising the freshness of the terroir.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Trapet Père & Fils ranks among the most tradition-steeped estates of Gevrey-Chambertin, committed for generations to the expression of place. The estate operates biodynamically, a philosophy reflected in a particular vibrancy and precision in its wines. The Pinot Noir is vinified with the utmost respect for the raw material: gentle extraction, maturation in Burgundy barrels, where fruit always remains paramount. The moderate alcohol content of 12.5 % underscores the elegant, never opulent house style.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A classic companion to the Burgundian table: Bœuf Bourguignon or braised lamb shoulder with Provençal herbs harmonise beautifully with the structure and depth of this wine. Equally recommended: aged Époisses or Comté as a savoury conclusion, as well as game dishes such as venison loin with mushroom jus – dishes that mirror the terroir on the plate.
