Wine Description for Gamlitz Weissburgunder DAC 2024 from Sattlerhof

Colour & Appearance
Pale straw yellow with platinum-coloured reflections – a wine that already announces its clarity and precision in the glass.
Nose
Impeccably clean and bright, this village wine presents itself with a fine aromatic profile of green and yellow apples, lemons and blanched almonds. A hint of white tea and a subtle creaminess lend additional depth to the bouquet without overwhelming the freshness.
Palate
On the palate, the Gamlitzer Weissburgunder reveals itself as an elegant, approachable wine with clear structure. The bright, citric fruit is carried by a lively acidity (4.8 g/l) that gives the wine tension and length. A very subtle tannin – as if from a brief tea infusion – and a delicate herbal spice round off the flavour profile harmoniously. With only 1.1 g/l residual sugar, the wine remains taut and focused.
Finish
Fresh, clean and with pleasant length. The citrus notes linger, accompanied by a mineral freshness that invites you to the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The vines are rooted on steep slopes at 350 to 450 metres altitude around Gamlitz. Crystalline quartz sands with mica characterise the soils and impart the wine’s distinctive minerality. The cool microclimate of South Styria ensures pronounced freshness and elegance.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Selectively hand-harvested Pinot Blanc from vines aged 15 to 35 years. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation in stainless steel preserve the varietal clarity and freshness. A purist vinification that gives terroir pride of place.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile companion to pan-fried freshwater fish, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, goat’s cheese salad or Wiener Schnitzel. Also an excellent choice with steamed vegetables and light herb pasta dishes.
Special Features
An exemplary South Styrian Weissburgunder that places elegance above opulence. The spontaneous fermentation and cool terroir make this DAC wine an authentic ambassador of its origin – precise, vibrant and with clear identity.
