Tasting Notes for Embaixador 2022 by Attis Bodegas y Vinedos
- Colour & Appearance
- Luminous golden yellow with bright highlights, brilliantly clear in the glass.
- Nose
- A profound, cool entree brimming with maritime notes: oyster shell, seaweed and a salty Atlantic breeze meet wet slate. Behind this, fine yeast accents of butterscotch, brioche with salted butter and crisp shortcrust pastry emerge. The fruit remains subtly in the background – nuances of green mango, nectarine and passion fruit woven into a delicate scent of honey.
- Palate
- Powerful, dense and bursting with energy. The seamlessly integrated acidity generates tremendous drive and vitality. Salty, maritime Atlantic notes are gently embedded in yellow fruit flavours such as peach and mango. Fine phenolics with subtle bitter notes provide firm backbone and ensure a focused, sophisticated structure.
- Finish
- Exceptionally long and complex in the aftertaste, defined by a continuous interplay of salty minerality, delicate spice and cool stoniness.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes originate from a single vineyard site measuring just 0.5 hectares in the Val do Salnés (Rías Baixas). The vines, averaging 60 years of age, are grown using the traditional pergola system on deep, granitic soils with clay elements. The orientation towards the Atlantic guarantees cool afternoon breezes and a long, even ripening process.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Single-varietal Albariño, hand-harvested and rigorously selected. Following complete destemming and cold maceration, the wine matures for two years on the full lees with regular batonnage – one year of which is spent in an impressive granite vat, and the second year in stainless steel. Crafted under the direction of the Fariña brothers and French oenologist Jean-François Hébrard.
- Food Pairings
- Excellent with fresh oysters, refined sashimi, baked cod with salted butter or creamy seafood Arroz Caldoso.
- Special Features
- An extraordinary Albariño showcasing great aristocratic poise, which was awarded a coveted Platinum Medal at the TEXSOM Awards 2025. The one-year ageing process in a granite vessel lends it its unique, stony density.
