Luca D'Attoma is one of the great stars of the Italian wine scene. As an oenological advisor to many wineries throughout Italy, he has earned an excellent reputation far beyond the country. Since the turn of the millennium, he and his partner Elena Celli have been growing their own wines in the village of Riparbella near Bolgheri. The vineyards nestle into the landscape as if in the shape of an amphitheatre. Nature has shaped three different vineyards as if by the hand of a master. At the very top, the soils are richest in nutrients, as if made for Cabernet Franc. At the foot of the gentle hill, in the smallest plot, Syrah grows on stony, almost parched topsoil. The site in the middle is reserved for Merlot. The intensity and essence of Duemani's wines impressively prove that the future belongs to biodynamic viticulture when it comes to top growths.
