  • The Demian Vino Rosato 2024 from Pranzegg is an unconventional, vibrant rosé made from the indigenous Lagrein grape variety, which perfectly brings the cool freshness of Alto Adige’s north-west-facing steep slopes into the glass. Martin Gojer deliberately breaks with the classic, heavy style of the region here, focusing instead on wild freshness and drinkability.
  • 🎨 Colour: Deep, vibrant cherry red with violet reflections.
  • 👃 Nose: Inviting notes of fresh wild berries, sour cherries and delicate violets, underlaid with a fine, smoky spice reminiscent of wet slate.
  • 👅 Palate: Wonderfully juicy and taut on the palate with an animating vein of acidity, supported by fine-grained, silky tannins and a delicate, tart berry fruit.
  • 🎭 Character: Living, unadorned and full of tension – a characterful rosato that captivates with its cool style and immense drinkability.
  • 🍽️ Food Pairing: Excellent with autumnal antipasti featuring Alto Adige speck, beetroot carpaccio with walnuts or a classic, hearty charcuterie board.
  • ✨ Special Features: This rosato comes from biodynamically farmed steep slopes above Bolzano, where Breton dwarf sheep take care of the soil management. The wine was spontaneously fermented and matured on the full lees without fining or filtration, giving it its unfiltered, living structure.

Wine Description for Demian Vino Rosato 2024 by Pranzegg

Character
A Rosato that radically distances itself from the common, trivial summer wine cliché. Martin Gojer’s interpretation is an intellectual, structured wine with edges and corners. It captivates with a vibrant freshness, fine-bitter spice and an almost autumnal, earthy coolness, supported by a fine, grippy texture. The focus here is not on superficial fruit, but on a gripping drinking flow and an almost untamed, vital energy.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the extreme steep slopes high above Bozen, on the Kohlerer Berg and the Ritten. Characterised by a cool north-west exposure and shade-giving forests, the vines escape the typical South Tyrolean heat. The soils of porphyry, basalt and granite of volcanic origin lend the wine a cool, taut structure, while the nightly downwinds provide a striking play of acidity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Crafted from the indigenous grape variety Lagrein, which here sheds its otherwise often heavy, muscular style. Cultivation is carried out strictly according to biodynamic principles, supported by Breton Ouessant sheep in the vineyard. In the cellar, any fining and filtration are eschewed. Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts and gentle ageing in the cellar result in an unadulterated, artisanal Rosato of great clarity.
Food Pairings
This structured Rosato is an excellent partner for food. It pairs brilliantly with air-dried South Tyrolean Speck, fine fennel salami or a classic Brettljause (cold meat and cheese platter). It also shows its full class alongside vegetarian dishes such as baked beetroot dumplings or mushroom risotto.
