Wine information
This Champagne comes from vineyards on the threshold of the Marne Valley to the Montagne de Reims. The sites in Cuchery, Baslieux, Leuvrigny, Troissy and Mareuil le Port are characterised by calcareous clay and alluvial soils. The cuvée consists of 100 % of Chardonnay from the 2016 vintage. The wine was aged 100 % in oak. The total of 641 bottles were shaken by hand and disgorged with a dosage of 2.4 grams on 19 May 2022.
Color
Platinum yellow, fine mousseux
Nose
The nose of the Cuvée Irizée appears fine and radiantly bright. It is mainly determined by yellow and a little bit also by green citrus fruits, some crunchy green pome fruit, crushed lime and white blossoms.
Palate
On the palate, a lot of pressure builds up very quickly. Here, too, the Chardonnay presents itself bright and clear with lots of citrus fruit and the finest cream. The wood ageing, which was not present in the bouquet, becomes clear here without coming to the fore. The razor-sharp and powerful, yet always subtle Champagne is carried by an electrifying minerality.
