Wine information
This Champagne comes from vineyards on the threshold of the Marne Valley to the Montagne de Reims. The sites in Cuchery, Baslieux-lès-Fismes, Leuvrigny, Troissy and Mareuil-le-Port are characterised by calcareous clay and alluvial soils. The cuvée consists of 100 % of Chardonnay from the 2017 vintage. The wine was aged 100 % in oak. The total of 1212 bottles were shaken by hand and disgorged with a dosage of 2.3 grams as Extra Brut on 5 July 2022.
Color
Lemon yellow, fine mousseux
Nose
The fragrance combines the Cuvée Irizée In an impressively successful and fine way, very fresh notes with the finest rock spice and a hint of nougat, puff pastry with zest of kumquats and grapefruits. There is also a blob of lemon curd, some candied ginger and even a slice of pear and quince that has been very briefly tossed in brown butter.
Palate
On the palate, the 2017 cuvée appears more charming than its predecessor, which was endowed with endless pressure and electrifying minerality. Pressure and minerality are also excellently worked out here. But in addition to all the fresh and iridescent moments, one finds a touch more wood, more nougat and more sweetness here, even if the Champagne is very moderately dosed at 2.3 grams. Here, every component has already found its place in a simply outstanding blanc de blancs found!
