Wine description for Ravazzol Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2013 from

Colour & Appearance
Deep dark cherry red with an almost black core and only minimal lightening towards the rim – an Amarone that reveals its concentration and maturity right in the glass.
Nose
Fascinatingly complex and multi-layered: smoke, truffle and graphite form the earthy foundation, complemented by liquorice and an almost medicinal note of lovage. With air contact, dark fruit aromas of rowan berry, sloe and blackberry unfold. A wine with morbid charm – elegantly aged without losing its vibrancy.
Palate
Sweet and juicy, yet never heavy. The fresh acidity lends this powerful Amarone remarkable liveliness and prevents any heaviness despite 16% alcohol. The fine-grained tannins are perfectly integrated and balanced. The wine caresses the palate with its dense texture, yet remains stimulating and inviting – a rare feat in this category.
Finish
Long, spicy and with lingering notes of dark berries and spices. The tannins carry through without dominating.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from the prestigious Valpolicella Classico vineyard sites Marano and Fumane, where limestone soils provide minerality and structure – terroirs that have been regarded as the heart of the region for centuries.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Classic Amarone blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Fermentation was carried out with wild yeasts, which brings additional complexity and authenticity. The 2013 vintage shows itself at the perfect stage of maturity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Quail on radicchio in maple syrup with walnuts and beetroot, cocoa pasta with beef fillet strips, mushrooms and orange segments, or boldly: Gorgonzola Dolce tart with dark chocolate and blackberry jelly – this Amarone pairs well with powerful, complex flavours.
Special Features
An Amarone Riserva that proves power and elegance need not be opposites. The wild yeast fermentation and perfect stage of maturity make this 2013 an extraordinary food companion.
