Corvina

Also known as: Corvina Veronese (Verona), Cruina (local)

The name comes from „corvo“ – crow – due to the dark berry skin. Corvina is the backbone of Valpolicella: thin-skinned enough for light, cherry-fruited wines, thick-skinned enough for drying into Amarone. This tension makes the grape interesting. Vinified fresh, it recalls Beaujolais – light, floral, with bitter almond on the finish. Dried and concentrated, it becomes something entirely different.

In Valpolicella Classico, Ca‘ La Bionda and Fidora both work biodynamically with old vines. Both demonstrate that Corvina can do more than just raisin opulence: precise wines with grip and freshness that take the light style of Valpolicella seriously.
