Colour & Appearance

Medium straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a Riesling that still shows its youth distinctly, yet already hints at depth.

Nose

Here the full finesse of the Frauenberg reveals itself: charming and creamy, with a fascinating smoky undertone. With air contact, a spicy, almost dark complexity develops. The fruit remains deliberately restrained – subtle notes of lemon, lemon balm and lemongrass. This is not a wine of loud tones, but one of subtle hints and aristocratic restraint.

Palate

Pure elegance. A subtle residual sweetness carries yellow and white-fleshed fruit, whilst mineral spice and piquant herbal notes provide tension. The gripping extract and fine phenolics recall a polished semi-precious stone – present, but never obtrusive. The balance of fruit, minerality and structure is already impressive, but above all promises one thing: decades of ageing potential.

Finish

Long, precise and carried by fine phenolics. The limestone spice lingers, accompanied by a saline minerality that refreshes the palate and calls for the next sip.

Terroir & Origin

The Frauenberg – first mentioned in 1290 – lies in southern Wonnegau at altitudes up to 280 metres with extreme slopes of 40 per cent. Limestone gravel on pure limestone bedrock forces the vines to develop deep root systems. Wind and heat characterise this exposed vineyard, which produces Riesling of extraordinary precision.

Grape Variety & Vinification

100% Riesling, hand-harvested and strictly selected. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation in large wooden casks and double casks – classic Rheinhessen craftsmanship that gives terroir room to breathe. The magnum bottle promises even more harmonious maturation.

Food Pairing Recommendations

Smoked salmon in puff pastry with crispy kale, warm char with smoked potato purée and tarragon butter or surprisingly guinea fowl with chickpeas, chorizo and almonds – the wine’s minerality pairs well with smoke, fat and spicy complexity.
