Wine Description for Attis Mar Aged 9 Months Underwater in the Galician Sea 2024 by Attis Bodegas y Vinedos

Colour & Appearance
Luminous straw yellow with brilliant, greenish-shimmering reflections – a wine that already reveals its cool, Atlantic origins in the glass.
Nose
Here unfolds the full class of an underwater-aged Albariño: subtle, pure in tone and of remarkable clarity. The aromatics shift elegantly between pomelo, grapefruit and blood orange, whilst exotic notes of passion fruit, star fruit and persimmon create a tropical-inflected foundation. Beneath lies a finely integrated yeasty note that gives the wine backbone, complemented by nuances of marzipan and roasted almond. With increasing aeration, the maritime character dominates: saline impressions, seaweed, sea spray and oyster shell define the picture. A wine of great inner calm and tension simultaneously.
Palate
Enormously juicy with distinct pressure in the mid-palate, yet never heavy. The fruit remains subtle and precise, the texture silky and linear. The medium-bodied, pronounced acidity carries the wine with sovereignty and imparts additional tension. The combination of juiciness, elegance and fine melt makes this Albariño exceptionally harmonious.
Finish
Long and characterised by maritime and saline aromas – the full breadth of the Atlantic unfolds in the aftertaste.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Albariño from Rías Baixas. The special feature: nine months of ageing underwater in the Galician Sea – a process that gives the wine its unique maritime character and extraordinary clarity.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A natural match for raw oysters, scallops and seafood of all kinds. Excellent also with ceviche, sushi or grilled octopus. The saline minerality makes it the ideal companion for Dover sole or turbot.
Special Features
The underwater ageing is more than a gimmick: the constant pressure, darkness and cool temperatures of the Atlantic create optimal conditions for slow, harmonious development. The result is an Albariño of extraordinary purity and maritime authenticity.
