Wine Description for Aloxe-Corton rouge AOC 2023 by Charlopin Tissier

Colour & Appearance
Muted garnet red with delicate mahogany highlights towards the rim – a classic appearance for Pinot Noir from northern Burgundy.
Nose
Captivating and complex: wild raspberry, blackcurrant and sweet strawberry dominate the initial bouquet. With air contact, spicy tertiary aromas develop of chestnut, leather, cocoa and a fascinating soy sauce note. The ripe, charming style is seductive and already displays remarkable complexity for such a young vintage.
Palate
Refined and seductive, this Pinot presents itself with hints of maturity. The delicate fruit sweetness is carried by a stimulating acidity and piquant, well-integrated tannins. The balance between fruit, acidity and tannin is already remarkably harmonious. The wine shows substance without heaviness.
Finish
Medium to long with pronounced spice and a combination of sweet and fruity components that fade elegantly.
Terroir & Origin
The 1.74 hectares in the Climat Petit Vercotes situated directly on the D974 are characterised by red clay and abundant limestone – an ideal combination for Pinot Noir with structure and finesse.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Pinot Noir, completely destemmed. Following cool pre-fermentation maceration, spontaneous fermentation takes place. The 18-month maturation in 228-litre barriques (predominantly François Frères) with 50-75% new oak imparts structure and complexity without masking the fruit.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Pan-roasted duck breast with cherry sauce, rare roasted veal fillet, Coq au Vin, mature Époisses or Comté. The sweet and fruity components of the wine harmonise beautifully with corresponding elements in the dish.
Special Characteristics
This 2023 already brings great pleasure and displays the hallmark of Charlopin Tissier: ripe, charming and accessible, without sacrificing depth. A Burgundy that will delight both connoisseurs and newcomers alike.
