Wine Description for Pernand-Vergelesses blanc AOC 2023 by Charlopin Tissier
Colour & Appearance
Luminous golden yellow with fresh green reflections that underscore the youthfulness and vitality of this Burgundy.
Nose
A textbook example of Burgundian restraint: subtle aromas of apple and pear meld with delicate notes of almond and salad burnet. A hint of toasted white bread reveals the skilful oak handling. Everything feels aristocratically composed – never obtrusive, always elegant.
Palate
On the palate, a fascinating duality unfolds: pear and quince form the fruity foundation, whilst lemon balm and angelica provide mineral freshness. The texture is sinewy and precise, with a tension typical of this cool vineyard site. The wine displays substance without heaviness – a prime example of the new generation of Burgundian white wines.
General Information
From 0.11 hectares of old vines in the Climat Sous Frétille, directly below the famous Corton. The south-easterly slope benefits from the cooler microclimates of recent years. 16 months ageing in 400-litre casks with a high proportion of new oak, perfectly integrated.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This purist Chardonnay demands equally restrained companions: scallops with butter, turbot in white wine sauce or goat’s cheese of medium maturity. Also an excellent choice with roasted chicken and herbs.
Special Features
A wine that embodies Burgundy’s gift for elegant understatement. The cool vineyard site proves its worth in a vintage like 2023 – here white Burgundies with character and longevity are born. Charlopin Tissier demonstrates that even the smallest parcels can produce greatness.
