Tasting note
Colour & appearance
Shimmering pale golden yellow with distinct green reflections – a wine that already reveals its youth and tension in the glass.
Nose
A striking bouquet of wild pear, apple and quince, alongside mirabelle plums and fresh grapes. Floral notes of elderflower and hawthorn hover above, framed by stony, delicately smoky minerality.
Palate
Vibrant acidity meets yellow and green fruits: lemon, apricot, apple and green gooseberry. Delicate fruit sweetness and an invigorating spiciness lend this dry wine drive and playfulness – you are tempted to empty the bottle straight away.
Finish
Juicy and marked by salinity, with a fruity aftertaste and a fine, chalky coolness that lingers long.
Terroir & origin
The grapes come from the historic Nussberg vineyard sites Gollin, Obere Schoß and Weisleiten in Grinzing. On weathered limestone soils, vines thrive here in one of Vienna’s oldest vineyards – right in the middle of one of the few capital cities worldwide with vineyards within the city limits.
Grape varieties & vinification
A true Wiener Gemischter Satz in the classic sense: Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Weißburgunder, Welschriesling and Muskateller grow side by side and are harvested and vinified together. The estate is farmed biodynamically and is respekt-BIODYN-certified.
Food recommendations
Splendid at the table: with Wiener Schnitzel made from veal, grilled pike-perch, asparagus with hollandaise sauce or a fine cheese board with young mountain cheese. Also an exciting choice with Asian dishes featuring lemongrass and ginger.
Special features
Hajszan Neumann is Fritz Wieninger’s experimental field for uncompromising natural wines on the Nussberg – the counterpart to the classic elegance of Weingut Wieninger. This Gemischter Satz captures that philosophy: wild in spirit, precise in the glass, with a raw, untamed minerality rarely found in Vienna.
