In picturesque Ecueil, in the heart of the Petit Montagne de Reims, is the royal domicile of Geraldine Lacourte and Richard Desvignes. Their estate is characterised by a devoted devotion to the 1er Cru site, which brings them particularly close to the vineyards. In 2016, they took the decisive step of converting their viticulture to organic - a decision that has brought their vineyards back to plump life. Both bring valuable life experience to their craft and they have admirably invested their well-deserved peace back into Geraldine's family vineyard. Interestingly, Geraldine had years of experience in the marketing back end of Germany, which brings a modern twist to her style. Her base wines, fermented in stainless steel, don't necessarily make the BSA, only a portion is aged in barrique. The result is a clear, sharp and tense note that boldly represents its origins, never aggressive, always fruity and elegantly deep.

Color
A soft straw yellow colour that shines brightly and radiates.

Nose
In an opulent concert, the nose combines aromas of orange peel, red apple skins and green almonds with the autolytic hints of yeast, bread crumbs and toasted hazelnuts. Presence is the component that complements the terroir of Ecueil and underlines the luxury of a good glass of champagne, giving it special charm.

Palate
With a fine perlage, the Terroir d'Ecueil from Lacourte-Godbillon glides elegantly over the tongue. Here, a juicy, fruity note meets a hint of yeast. This cuvée of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay is a powerful but noble blend that unobtrusively leaps into existence. With a tidy dose of a lean five grams and 30 months of ageing on the lees, this wine is beautifully balanced and offers pure, intense Champagne experience. The finish is long and delicately salty.

Food recommendations:
Pea salad with mint, toasted bread, feta cheese and strawberry vinaigrette.
Smoked sardines with plum chutney and crème frâiche.
Guinea fowl breast with Cumberland sauce.
