Color
Ruby red with violet reflections.
Nose
The 2017 Terra de Cuques Negre from Terroir al Limit is a blend of 50% Carignan and 50% Grenache Noir from shale and clayey slate soils. Rich on the nose with warm character and deep dark fruit of black cherry, mulberry and elderberry. Spicy outlined by laurel, dried tomatoes and black olives the balsamic top note is fruity underpinned.
Mouth
With a juicy entry, the dark fruit hovers like a drone over the distinctive Llicorella slate note of Priorat. Rich in extract, it is quickly accelerated by the lively acidic nerve and picks up speed rapidly. The ripe, velvety tannins contribute a drinkingly tart note, combining juice and finesse in fine twang. A Priorat in Burgundian garb without denying its homeland.
