Colour & Appearance

Deep, opaque purple with violet rim – a wine that announces its concentration visually from the outset. The Laurel presents itself clear and lustrous in the glass.

Nose

Remarkably generous for its youth. The nose reveals a complex interplay of lingonberries, cranberries and dried black cherries. Behind these unfold fascinating secondary aromas: black tea, delicately smoky notes reminiscent of duck breast, alongside cocoa beans and a hint of amaretto. Multi-layered and evolving – a nasal experience that awakens anticipation.

Palate

Substantial and powerful, yet consistently dry. The dark berry fruit is carried by present yet refined tannins. A refreshing acidity lends elegance and balance to this muscular Priorat. With air and time, the untamed energy settles into harmonious equilibrium. Decant by all means – this wine needs room to breathe.

Finish

Persistent and spicy with lingering fruit and fine tannin structure that promises length.

Terroir & Origin

From Gratallops in Priorat, one of Spain’s most legendary wine regions. The steep slate terraces and Mediterranean climate shape the concentrated character of this wine.

Grape Variety & Vinification

A classic Priorat cuvée composed primarily of Grenache Noir, complemented by Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Maturation takes place in used wood and amphorae – a deliberate eschewing of new oak that places the fruit centre stage. Daphne Glorian has farmed biodynamically since the late 1980s.

Food Pairing Suggestions

Perfect with braised veal shoulder with Brussels sprouts and potato gratin, grilled lamb merguez with mojo rosso or surprisingly also with chestnut spätzle with roasted pumpkin – the wine’s power accommodates intense flavours.
