Profound dark fruit reminiscent of lingonberries, cranberries and reduced black cherries, complemented by notes of black tea, lightly smoked duck breast, cocoa beans and a hint of amaretto.
Palate
Rich and resolutely dry with pronounced dark berry fruit, lively acidity and powerful tannins that lend the wine structure and balance.

A proud, still youthful Catalan with untamed power that settles into balanced composure with air and time – decanting before serving is essential.

A cuvée from the Aubagues and Socarrats vineyard sites, farmed biodynamically since 2004, aged in used wood and amphorae – a Priorat at its finest, more approachable than the legendary Clos Erasmus, yet no less fascinating.

Nose
Profound and, despite its youth, remarkably generous: lingonberries and cranberries meet dried and stewed black cherries. These are joined by the spice of black tea, lightly smoked duck breast, as well as notes suggesting sweetness from cocoa beans and a hint of amaretto. A complex, evolving bouquet that invites the first sip.
Palate
Rich and pronounced in its dark berry fruit, yet resolutely dry. A vibrant acidity lends freedom of movement and sure-footedness to the tannic structure of this proud Catalan from Gratallops. With time and air, its still untamed power settles into balanced composure – be sure to open or decant it in good time before serving.
Finish
Long-lasting, spicy and marked by dark fruit, with a cool elegance that elevates the wine far beyond its youthful stage.
Terroir & origin
Daphne Glorian founded Clos i Terrasses in the late 1980s in Priorat, when the region was still in a deep slumber. Alongside René Barbier and Álvaro Palacios, she was among the pioneers who recognised the potential of the spectacular slate terraces. The grapes for Laurel come from the vineyard sites of Aubagues and Socarrats, rooted in pure Llicorella slate.

The cuvée of Grenache Noir, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in used wood and amphorae. Since 2004, Daphne Glorian has worked according to biodynamic principles.
Food recommendations
Braised veal shoulder with grilled Brussels sprouts and potato gratin – the dark fruit and robust structure of the wine complement the roasted aromas and succulent texture of the meat. Grilled lamb merguez with mojo rosso and sweet potato fries – the spiciness of the merguez and the heat of the mojo rosso find a worthy partner in the dark berry fruit and vibrant acidity. Chestnut Spätzle with roasted pumpkin and caramelised onion melt – the earthy notes of the chestnuts and the sweet depth of the pumpkin mirror the wine’s complex aromatic profile.
Special features
Laurel is the more accessible second wine of Clos i Terrasses, named after the English translation of Daphne’s first name. While Clos Erasmus, as the first wine from Priorat, received 100 Parker points and is strictly limited, Laurel displays the same cool elegance and pure minerality in a more open, inviting style – a Priorat in perfection that celebrates the greatness of its terroir without compromise.
