Colour & appearance

A radiant cherry red colour with a dark, concentrated core and lighter rim presents itself in the glass. The slight cloudiness reveals an unadorned, authentic approach - exactly what you would expect from an honest Pinot Noir.

Nose

This Pinot Noir surprises with its unusual depth and darkness. Morello cherry and blackberry dominate the bouquet, accompanied by raspberry and sweet cherry. Redcurrant is discreetly added. What is remarkable is that despite this expressive abundance of fruit, the wine conveys a cool, stony minerality - a testament to the limestone and loess soils. Floral notes of lilac, violet and pansy lend it a delicate elegance. Juniper and ground red pepper round off the harmonious interplay of flavours with a fine spiciness.

Palate

The 2022 shows its character here. The attack is more angular than the seductive nose suggests - green, tart accents challenge the dark fruit. Distinctive bitter flavours provide a striking counterpoint without being overpowering. The fruit is skilfully balanced, while the cool elegance of the nose continues. A slight spiciness blends with the spicy component, nutty nuances characterise the medium-long finish. At 12.5% alcohol, the wine remains refreshingly drinkable and shows the Burgundian restraint that characterises great Pinot Noir.
