Verdiso

The steep hills of the Colli Trevigiani in Veneto are home to the autochthonous grape variety Verdiso. Mostly harvested alongside Glera, it is the traditional, acid-driven backbone of the classic sparkling wines of this region. Verdiso brings a tart, almost salty freshness to the glass, carried by notes of green apple, citrus zest, and fine herbal spice. It benefits from poor limestone soils and lends wines an animating structure that pairs excellently with air-dried ham or grilled fish.

This traditional interplay is nurtured by the Casa Coste Piane winery in the »Brichet Colli Trevigiani IGT Frizzante Naturalmente«. Here, the Verdiso supports the blend with its vibrant acidic structure and, during the natural bottle fermentation, ensures that fine, understated perlage that brings the artisanal character of the region unadulterated into the glass.
