Verdiso

Also known as: Verdiso Trevigiano (Treviso)

One of the autochthonous grape varieties of Veneto, traditionally grown in the Prosecco region around Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, but now almost extinct. Verdiso was formerly used as a blending partner for Glera, primarily for its distinctive acidity and mineral structure. What characterises the grape is a certain astringency – not a crowd-pleaser, rather angular, with notes of green pepper and wisteria, plus a slightly bitter note on the finish reminiscent of citrus peel.

In our range, Verdiso is exclusively represented by Casa Coste Piane – an estate that consistently dedicates itself to almost forgotten local varieties and demonstrates what is possible beyond the Glera monoculture in the Prosecco region.
