Arbanne
Also known as: Albane (historical)
One of the rare old Champagne varieties that had almost disappeared and is now being rediscovered in small quantities by a few producers. Arbanne brings floral aromas and a peculiar, almost bitter almond note to blends – not a replacement for Chardonnay, but a precise complementary voice. Olivier Horiot in the Côte des Bar has brought it back into the repertoire, as has Drappier. In some cuvées it is used together with other historical varieties such as Petit Meslier.
