Terroir & Origin

The Palatinate is one of Germany’s sunniest wine regions. Mild temperatures, sheltered vineyard sites at the edge of the Pfälzerwald and diverse soils of limestone, sandstone and loam characterise a winemaking style that allows both ripeness and freshness. This favourable microclimate particularly suits a light, aromatic variety like Müller-Thurgau.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Müller-Thurgau – a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale – was long the workhorse of German winemaking and is experiencing a quiet rehabilitation today. In the right hands, the variety shows floral aromatics, fine spice and a natural drinking pleasure. The near-dry style underscores the straightforwardness of the wine. Winemaker Steffen Mugler favours a clean, fresh vinification that puts the variety’s characteristic properties to the fore without overworking them.
