A white wine of remarkable presence, far surpassing the humble origins of its grape variety. Vietti’s Roero Arneis displays the typical freshness and structure of this Piedmontese speciality – with an aromatic profile reminiscent of white blossoms, ripe pears and a hint of almond. In the glass, it reveals that elegance which Alfredo Currado first recognised in this nearly forgotten grape back in 1967. Dry in style, at 13.5% ABV, it moves effortlessly between drinkability and depth.

Terroir & Origin

The vines grow in the Roero, that hilly landscape north of the Langhe, where calcareous soils and sand formations create ideal conditions for Arneis. Established in Castiglione Falletto since 1873, Vietti ranks among Piedmont’s most historic estates. Today, the winery owns 75 hectares in the region’s finest vineyard sites – from Barolo to Roero. The Currado family profoundly shaped Piedmontese viticulture: Alfredo created one of the first cru Barolos in 1961 and, six years later, saved Arneis from extinction.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Arneis was long considered a difficult, low-yielding variety – until Alfredo Currado became the first to vinify it as a single varietal in 1967. He has borne the title “Father of Arneis” ever since. The grape produces wines with a fine acid structure, medium body and a characteristic blend of citrus fruit and herbal spice. At Vietti, Arneis is treated with the meticulous care that has defined the estate for generations – respect for tradition coupled with a spirit of innovation.

Food Pairings

A wine suited to the full breadth of Italian cuisine: it shows its classic side alongside Vitello Tonnato, and its versatility with asparagus risotto or seafood pasta. It is also an excellent choice with vegetable antipasti or young Pecorino. Its fresh acidity and moderate alcohol make it an ideal companion for white meat dishes and fish – from sea bass to pan-fried sea bream.
