Wine Description for Roero Arneis DOCG 2025 by Vietti

Character
Vietti is among the pioneers who have brought the indigenous grape variety Arneis to its renaissance. This Roero Arneis embodies the mineral freshness and aromatic complexity for which the house has stood for generations. A white wine of subtle elegance that holds fruit and structure in perfect balance – far removed from interchangeable mass-produced fare.
Terroir & Origin
The Roero region, located north of Alba, differs significantly in geological terms from the Barolo and Barbaresco zones: sandier soils with fossilised marine deposits characterise the wines here. These soils lend the Arneis its characteristic lightness and floral aromatics. Vietti manages vineyards in the finest sites of Roero, where the continental climate with warm days and cool nights provides crisp acidity alongside full ripeness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Arneis – the name means „little rascal“ in the Piedmontese dialect – was long considered difficult to cultivate. Vietti, however, has made this variety a flagship. The grape brings notes of white flowers, pear, almond and herbs. Ageing typically takes place in stainless steel to preserve the primary fruit and freshness – an approach that puts the purity of the terroir centre stage. Vietti’s signature is evident in the precise vinification and the feel for the right harvest moment.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A classic companion to Piedmontese cuisine: excellent with Vitello tonnato, Acciughe al verde (anchovies in green sauce) or risotto with courgettes. The mineral structure harmonises perfectly with raw fish, seafood and sushi. Also an assured choice with goat’s cheese, pan-fried sea fish or spring vegetables. Its versatility makes it an ideal aperitif wine.
