Wine Description for Restanques de Pibarnon Rouge AOC 2020 from Château de Pibarnon

Colour & Appearance
Intense garnet red with youthful luminosity and fine transparency that already reveals its Mediterranean origins in the glass.
Nose
This Bandol presents itself gracefully and invitingly with aromas of ripe plums, blackberries and dark berries. Behind these unfold mineral notes of graphite and crushed limestone, accompanied by garrigue, juniper, undergrowth and a hint of black pepper – an aromatic portrait of the Provençal landscape.
Palate
Here lies the true strength of this second wine: immediate drinking pleasure without compromise on complexity. Warm, juicy dark fruits meet a silky, elegant texture. The characteristic fleshiness and earthiness of Mourvèdre combines with a cool limestone note and sweet spices. The wine is ethereal and lively, with a sophisticatedly structured architecture that appears accessible yet possesses considerable depth.
Finish
Medium-length with lingering fruit aromas, fine spice and mineral freshness that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The vines thrive in an amphitheatre facing the sea on clay, limestone and chalk soils from the Triassic period – a terroir that lends the wine its mineral precision.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Cuvée of 70% Mourvèdre and 30% Grenache from 10 to 20-year-old vines. Completely destemmed, three-week fermentation, followed by 18 months ageing in large wooden vats and Burgundy pièces.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Provençal pork roast with bay leaf, herbs and olives, lamb loin fillet on cinnamon-cardamom rice with baked plums or falafel with honey, cinnamon and date rice.
Special Features
The perfect answer for connoisseurs who don’t want to wait years in the cellar for the Pibarnon experience – hedonistic, accessible and yet authentic.
