Wine Description for Mason di Mason DOC 2020 by Manincor

Colour & Appearance
Luminous ruby red with garnet reflections, medium density that already visually hints at the elegance of this South Tyrolean Pinot Noir.
Nose
A Pinot Noir of remarkable finesse and complexity. The nose opens with red cherries and wild strawberries, accompanied by subtle notes of rose petals and violets. With air, spicy accents of white pepper, cloves and a discreet smoky note develop, reminiscent of fine Burgundies. The cool altitude of South Tyrol manifests itself in the crystalline clarity of the aromas.
Palate
On the palate, the true class of this wine reveals itself: silky texture, perfectly integrated tannins and a vibrant acidity structure that gives the wine tension and length. The red fruit remains present but is complemented by undergrowth, graphite and mineral notes. The alcohol content of 13.5% is perfectly balanced, nothing feels overloaded. The precision and balance are reminiscent of the great Pinots from the Côte de Beaune, yet it retains its distinctly alpine character.
Finish
Long, cool and elegant with lingering fruit and spice notes. The fine minerality carries through to the end and leaves a saline, appetising impression.
Terroir & Origin
Manincor is among the pioneers of quality-oriented viticulture in South Tyrol. The vineyard sites benefit from the alpine microclimate with cool nights and sunny days – ideal conditions for Pinot Noir with finesse and aromatic precision.
Food Pairing Recommendations
This elegant Pinot Noir harmonises beautifully with roasted duck, veal sirloin, aged Gruyère or mushroom risotto with truffle. Also an exciting pairing with tuna tartare or salmon trout.
Special Features
The Mason di Mason impressively demonstrates that South Tyrol is not limited to white wines. This is a red wine of international class that proves Italian Pinot Noir can certainly hold its own against Burgundian benchmarks – whilst maintaining its distinctive, unmistakable character.
