Wine Description for LIL‘ KRA XXIII Komet Rosso IGT 2023 by Alois Lageder

Colour & Appearance
Pale, luminous garnet red with youthful violet reflections – a visual harbinger of the freshness and elegance that characterise this wine.
Nose
Captivating freshness and aromatic intensity: sour cherry and blackcurrant dominate, supported by josta berry and blueberry. Fine graphite notes and subtle herbal aromas lend depth and complexity to the bouquet – classic Pinot Noir with Alpine precision.
Palate
Here lies the true magic of this wine: fine-boned, elegant, with spectacular 11.5% alcohol that lends the wine a rare lightness. Red fruit takes centre stage with elegance, the tannins present themselves refined and silky, the acidity ripe and invigorating. A Pinot Noir that prioritises finesse over power – and convinces with this approach.
Finish
Persistently fruity with fine spice, the acidity carries the aromas long and precisely. Refreshing and engaging – a wine that invites you to take the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
From a newly planted parcel in the top Pinot Noir vineyard site in Eppan, South Tyrol. The inaugural vintage 2023 from this promising parcel, which will eventually flow into the legendary Krafuss – a tantalising preview of things to come.
Grape Variety & Vinification
20 different Pinot Noir clones and massale selections on various rootstocks – a genetic mosaic that guarantees complexity. Fermentation for 7 days in large wooden vats, followed by 16 months maturation in the same vessel. No whole-bunch approach, but rather a focus on pure fruit and elegance.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Best served lightly chilled (14-16°C) with spiced dishes: vitello tonnato, veal schnitzel with chanterelles, pan-fried salmon or mushroom risotto. Also a pleasure on its own.
Special Features
A bold alternative to the mainstream: South Tyrolean Pinot Noir reimagined – with low alcohol, high drinkability and great future potential. Lageder once again proves that elegance and precision are the true hallmarks of quality.
