Wine Description for Longitude Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut by Larmandier-Bernier

Colour & Appearance
Pale yellow with a persistent, fine-beaded mousse that rises elegantly and lingeringly – a visual promise of freshness and vibrancy.
Nose
Remarkably complex for an entry-level Champagne: delicate brioche notes meet butter and extract-rich fruit. The mineral foundation reveals itself with oyster shells and wet chalk, whilst crisp apples and apricots round out the aromatic composition.
Palate
The fine-beaded mousse sets the rhythm: chalky-creamy freshness with vibrant, disciplined minerality – almost electric in character. The stone fruit aromas are underpinned with salinity, subtle autolysis notes and green almonds buffer the structure. The linear, taut drinking flow unites crystalline precision with delicate silkiness – a Champagne with genuine character.
Finish
Long, cool and mineral with lingering chalk notes that underscore the biodynamic terroir expression.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from Premier Cru vineyard sites on the Côte des Blancs: Vertus, Oger, Avize and Cramant. Here the chalk lies particularly close to the surface – a geological peculiarity that is reflected directly in the glass. The name „Longitude“ refers to the 4th meridian and symbolises the length and clarity of this Champagne.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Chardonnay, composed with 40% reserve wine from wooden barrels of the ongoing reserve. Biodynamic viticulture – Larmandier-Bernier is a pioneer of this philosophy on the Côte des Blancs. Extra Brut with minimal dosage that does not mask the pure terroir expression.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Turbot in oyster beurre blanc, risotto with young peas and morels, suckling pig leg with wild fennel, capers and lemon. The saline minerality makes it an ideal companion for shellfish and delicate fish dishes.
Special Features
A Champagne that proves entry-level wines can achieve complexity and depth through consistent biodynamic work that puts many grande marque cuvées in the shade. Versatile in application – from spontaneous aperitif to festive occasion.
